Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities (Chairman Lee Jong-seong) announced on the 11th the successful conclusion of the "2024 Metaverse Job Fair for Students with Disabilities" held to support customized career and employment for students with disabilities. This event was prepared to provide diverse employment information to university students with disabilities and young job seekers -- 17 organizations participated including public institutions such as KOTRA, Korea Gas Technology Corporation, and Korea Railroad Corporation, and private companies including Neowiz and Byeoksan. At the real-time job fair hall, recruitment staff from each organization introduced recruitment procedures and desired talent profiles, with participants able to get direct responses to individual questions in the virtual environment. The metaverse job fair model addresses a specific accessibility challenge: students with physical disabilities may find traveling to physical job fairs difficult; the virtual environment enables equal participation regardless of physical mobility; the persistent virtual exhibition (available before and after the live event) allows participants to review company information at their own pace; company avatars in the virtual space are treated the same as other participants, reducing the social anxiety some students with disabilities experience in crowded physical events.
