Gyeonggi Content Agency (President Tak Yong-seok) announced the "2024 Gyeonggi Metaverse Hackathon" concluded its 3-day final schedule on August 14 at Gyeonggi University of Science and Technology. Co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and Gyeonggi Province, organized by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) and Gyeonggi Content Agency, the competition aims to develop professionals solving public problems and corporate challenges using metaverse and XR technology. Preliminary round (early August): 19 teams, 77 developers competed; 10 teams advanced to finals. Two tracks: "XR Content for Public Problem Solving" and "Gyeonggi Province Public Interest Metaverse Tourism Experience Content."

Winners: Grand Prize (Gyeonggi Content Agency track) — Jungbu University "Upgrade Dong" team's "Urban Air Mobility VR Simulator for Safety Standard Decision Making"; Excellence Award — HAEYUM team (Korean University of Technology and Education + Seonlin Internet High School) for "Non-Face-to-Face ADHD Treatment VR Service." Grand Prize (The Sandbox Korea track) — "Army AmyTiger" team from Gyeonggi University with "Military Culture and Tourism Experience Content" set at Panmunjeom; Excellence Award — "Team OngoGShin" from Jungbu University with "Battle of Haengju Historical Experience Content" set at Haengjusanseong Fortress.
