The "2024 Korea Metaverse Festival (KMF 2024)" held on its 9th year under the theme "Metaverse, Spreading Wings of Convergence!" with 158 companies and 300 booths officially closed on the 19th (Saturday) with 12,600+ visitors during the event period. At the opening ceremony on the first day, Ministry of Science and ICT Minister Yoo Sang-im emphasized the implementation of the Virtual Convergence Industry Promotion Act, policy achievements, and dense support for innovative ecosystem creation through immersive direction utilizing metaverse technology. The Global Conference "The Metaverse We Will Create Together" featured domestic and international experts discussing AI-metaverse convergence, digital twin applications, and the regulatory environment for metaverse businesses. The 9th annual festival demonstrated the Korean metaverse industry resilience -- surviving the 2022-2023 hype correction, the festival has repositioned around practical enterprise applications (AI+metaverse, digital twins, XR training) rather than consumer metaverse entertainment; the 158 companies and 300 booths represent a smaller but more commercially serious ecosystem than the 2021-2022 peak; the Virtual Convergence Industry Promotion Act coming into force provides the regulatory foundation that enterprise customers need before committing to large-scale metaverse deployments.
