Pohang City announced successful completion of the 2024 Generative AI·Metaverse Hackathon on the 26th. The second annual hackathon held on the 24th at Pohang Dream Tree Center featured 100+ local elementary and middle school students. Organized by Handong University with EIS Talent Development Association cooperation as part of the "Citizen Practical AI Platform Construction and Operation" project, participants attended 8 generative AI and metaverse training sessions prior to the competition. Theme: "The Future City I Want to Live In." Two categories: Generative AI Creator and Metaverse Creator. Awards: Grand Prize (Pohang Mayor Award) — 2 winners per category; Excellence Award (Handong University President Award) — 2 winners per category. Pohang City Jobs and Economy Director Kwon Hyeok-won: "In the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, AI and metaverse digital education has become very important — we hope participating students will further develop their skills and become the talent to lead future Pohang."
