Sogang University Graduate School of Metaverse (Dean Hyun Dae-won) announced on the 18th an MOU with Zetacube, a micro-scale decentralized data center solution company, for joint promotion of DePIN (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network) research and EarthCam project. Through the agreement, the two parties plan to leverage DePIN — a blockchain-based technology providing distributed access to expensive physical infrastructure resources like GPUs and storage — to advance metaverse and AI development, and provide Korea's landmarks via the EarthCam platform. DePIN technology design enables efficient and secure provision of physical infrastructure through blockchain-based distributed networks rather than centralized data processing, while infrastructure suppliers earn stable revenue.

The planned EarthCam platform goes beyond showcasing Korea's beautiful natural scenery to store new cultural experiences as 4K high-definition data on Filecoin's DePIN network — usable for AI training and digital twin applications. The EarthCam platform will be managed by global IT media META-X. Dean Hyun: "We will establish the technical foundation for the EarthCam platform and conduct research for metaverse environment integration — through DePIN technology we will strengthen the platform's economic efficiency while establishing a DePIN Research Center to advance related technologies and nurture next-generation digital talent."
