Osan City (Mayor Lee Gwon-jae) announced that it conducted road name address education using the metaverse platform "PLACE_B" for 250 3rd-4th grade students at Osan Wondong Elementary School. PLACE_B is a metaverse platform developed for educational purposes -- a system that allows real road name addresses to be used in a virtual city environment, where students input road name addresses to find specific locations in virtual reality and learn the connection to the real environment through this. This method provides a differentiated learning experience from existing classroom education -- engaging like a game. The PLACE_B educational approach: students are assigned missions (find this building, navigate from point A to point B) that require understanding and applying the road name address system; the game-like format creates intrinsic motivation that factual instruction cannot; success in the virtual environment builds confidence in using the real address system; the spatial navigation requirement also develops geographic thinking skills that traditional address memorization does not; the education program targets the age group (3rd-4th grade, approximately 9-10 years old) when address comprehension and navigation skills become practically relevant for children.
