4 New Standardization Items Including Credential Trust Technology and Virtual Convergence World Security Approved
5 International Standards Including Urban Air Mobility Security Pre-Adopted

Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister Yoo Sang-im) announced that 4 new standardization items proposed by Korea including credential trust technology and virtual convergence world (metaverse) security were approved at the ITU-T (International Telecommunication Union Telecommunication Standardization Sector) Information Security Study Group (SG17, Chair: Soonchunhyang University Professor Yeom Heung-yeol) international meeting held in Geneva, Switzerland from the 2nd to 6th. Additionally, 5 international standards including urban air mobility security were pre-adopted, 2 international standards including vehicle edge computing security and 3 annexes including digital financial services security were finally approved. The standardization significance: ITU-T SG17 is the primary international body setting cybersecurity standards; having Korea-proposed standards approved establishes Korean technology approaches as international baselines; for metaverse security specifically, this means Korean approaches to identity verification, data protection, and access control in virtual environments may become the global standard that other countries and companies must adopt; credential trust technology (decentralized identity verification) is particularly strategic as it underlies all secure metaverse transactions and interactions.
