Total Four Programs Operating from March 14 to June 16, Creating Space for Communication
Open to All Residents... Application at Geumcheon-gu Library Website
Geumcheon Cultural Foundation (CEO Seo Young-cheol) will operate cultural arts activity programs themed around the 30th anniversary of Geumcheon-gu opening at Geumcheon-gu Gasan Library from March. Four programs operating from March 14 to June 16: (1) Local history documentation -- residents creating oral history records of neighborhood transformation over 30 years; (2) Community art project -- collaborative visual art work incorporating neighborhood landmarks and stories; (3) Creative writing workshop -- participants writing personal stories connecting to Geumcheon-gu history; (4) Photography project -- documenting the district today for future historical record. The cultural programming significance: Geumcheon-gu (Seoul southwestern district) has undergone significant transformation from industrial to mixed-use development; the 30th anniversary programs serve both commemorative and community-building functions -- helping newer residents connect to neighborhood history and long-term residents share their memories; open participation format ensures the programs reflect community voice rather than institutional narrative.
