Gwangmyeong City announced on the 2nd the official launch of "Digital Ground," a digital device experience zone at the Digital Innovation Education Center. Following the June 21 opening of the Digital Innovation Education Center at Cheolsan-dong underground public parking, Digital Ground operated in a 2-month pilot period with 520+ visitors, achieving 91% satisfaction in visitor surveys. Digital Ground consists of 5 experience zones: (1) AI Drawing Zone — AI drawing robot creates portraits by recognizing users' photographed faces; (2) Meta-D Gwangmyeong Zone — metaverse-based "Gwangmyeong Plaza" featuring KTX Gwangmyeong Station, Dodeoksan Suspension Bridge, Dodeoksan Campsite, Dodeokjeong Pavilion landmarks; includes "Overdown Game" (VR falling simulation) and Gwangmyeong OX quiz; (3) Interactive Screen Zone — screen characters recognize users' running, jumping, and obstacle-avoidance movements via pressure sensors (FRS); (4) Drone VR Zone — drone racing game in 3D-rendered KTX Gwangmyeong Station area; VR viewing of Gwangmyeong 8 Scenic Spots from above Dodeokjeong; (5) Immersive Content Zone — 5G-based realistic seasonal, time, and weather changes of Korea's seas through sound and visuals.
Open to all residents; advance reservation via website (digitaledu.gm.go.kr), phone (02-2680-6909), or walk-in. Operating times: weekdays at 10AM, 1:30PM, 3:30PM (max 30 per session). Additional programs planned for second half: coding competition, drone experience, and youth career exploration.
