Korea Communications Commission announced on the 22nd that it will actively implement "Island Village Media Education" for island residents who have difficulty receiving regular media education. This event started on the 21st and runs until the 28th, providing various media education and experience programs including deepfake prevention education and youth career education in Baengnyeongdo and Sapsi Island areas. Incheon Baengnyeong Island media education is conducted through the Incheon Citizens Media Center from the 21st to 23rd for 3 days -- in cooperation with 7 organizations in the Incheon area, providing customized programs helpful to the daily lives of Baengnyeong Island residents. The deepfake prevention education for island residents: Baengnyeongdo (located near the North Korea border) and remote islands have populations that may be particularly vulnerable to information manipulation; deepfake technology enabling convincing fake videos of public figures or known individuals is a growing misinformation risk; island residents with less access to urban media literacy programs are at higher risk; the program teaches identification of synthetic media through specific detection clues and critical evaluation of video authenticity.
