Launching New Managed Security Service Providing Network Visibility and Automated Threat Response

NTT DATA announced on the 3rd that it has partnered with global cybersecurity company Palo Alto Networks to launch a new managed security service for strengthening private 5G security for industrial and operational technology (OT) environments. This service combines Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewall (NGFW) and IoT/OT security technology with NTT DATA private 5G architecture into a turnkey managed security solution. The private 5G security challenge: as factories, utilities, ports, and critical infrastructure deploy private 5G networks for high-bandwidth, low-latency industrial connectivity, these networks become new attack surfaces; industrial OT devices (PLCs, SCADA systems, industrial sensors) were designed for reliability, not security, and often cannot run standard endpoint security software; a network-layer security approach (monitoring all traffic passing through the 5G network) is necessary when device-level security is not possible. The managed service model: NTT DATA (as the network integrator and operator) manages the security infrastructure while Palo Alto Networks provides the security technology; customer organizations get security monitoring and threat response without needing internal OT security expertise; the service includes real-time network visibility (seeing all devices and traffic on the private 5G network) and automated threat response (isolating compromised devices without human intervention). The market context: private 5G deployments for industrial use are growing rapidly; the convergence of IT and OT networks creates security challenges that traditional IT security approaches address poorly; specialized managed security services for this specific environment represent a growing market opportunity.
