Reality Labs Internal Restructuring... Supernatural Also Shaken

April 24, 2025: Meta conducted workforce restructuring in its virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) division Reality Labs. This reorganization affected multiple departments including teams under Oculus Studios and the VR fitness content "Supernatural" development team. According to US tech media The Verge, Meta Oculus Studios restructuring includes team structure and role adjustments that will affect personnel scale. Bloomberg reported over 100 people may have been affected by the restructuring. The organizational reorganization is analyzed as a measure to help Oculus Studios more efficiently develop future mixed reality (MR) experiences. Meta stated it will continue providing high-quality content for Quest and Supernatural user communities. The Supernatural operating team shared through Facebook official account: "Our team has been one that collaborated very closely, and saying goodbye to members who have contributed for a long time is very difficult." The Reality Labs financial context: Reality Labs has lost approximately 50 billion USD cumulatively since 2019; Q1 2025 Reality Labs operating loss was approximately 4.2 billion USD; despite massive investment, Quest headset market share has declined as Apple Vision Pro entered the market; Supernatural (fitness VR) was one of the genuine consumer successes in the Reality Labs portfolio -- restructuring that team suggests Meta is reconsidering which content investments to prioritize within its constrained Reality Labs budget.
