He Stated "The Job Was a Dream and the Team Was Amazing"
Another symbolic moment emerged from Silicon Valley. xAI General Counsel Robert Keele completed approximately 16 months of "turbulent time" and is leaving the company. He posted on X (formerly Twitter): "I didn not have enough time to spend with my two children. The job was a dream and the team was amazing. Being with Elon, this technology, and this moment was the greatest adventure of my life. However, there was a gap in worldviews." He added "I could not ride two horses (family and work) at the same time" -- choosing resignation. In true fond farewell fashion, he added he created a short parody video in "one shot" using xAI generative model Grok asking "what does it feel like to lead legal at xAI?" Keele resignation reads as personal in nature but reflects the waves xAI has navigated over the past year or so. He joined in May 2024 and led xAI legal and regulatory response. The "worldview gap" disclosure: Keele phrasing is careful and diplomatic but acknowledges substantive differences with Musk or xAI direction; in the AI legal context, likely differences around regulatory approach (how aggressively to resist government AI oversight), intellectual property (approach to training data licensing), or employee relations (the demanding xAI work culture); the simultaneous disclosure of both deep appreciation for the experience and a meaningful worldview difference is a model of graceful departure from a high-profile but demanding role at a company associated with a controversial CEO.
