Bucheon Arts Center, led by CEO Park Eun-hye, announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Sogang University's Graduate School of Virtual Convergence (BVI Lab) on November 4, 2026, to collaborate on research into the center's cultural development strategy and future growth opportunities.

The partnership aims to combine the expertise and experience of both institutions to assess Bucheon Arts Center's current operations and management performance, identify areas for improvement, and explore new opportunities for sustainable growth.

The collaboration is particularly significant because it connects the university's research capabilities with practical experience from the performing arts sector, with the goal of developing actionable recommendations for institutional management.

The signing ceremony took place at Sogang University's Samsung Gabriel Hall. Attendees included Park Eun-hye, CEO of Bucheon Arts Center; Hyun Dae-won, dean of Sogang University's Graduate School of Virtual Convergence; Distinguished Professor Lee Seok-keun; and representatives from both institutions.

In his welcoming remarks, Dean Hyun expressed hope that the agreement would serve as a foundation for broader collaboration.

"We hope this agreement will lead not only to research cooperation with Bucheon Arts Center but also to new collaborative projects across various fields," Hyun said. "By sharing our respective expertise and capabilities, we will continue expanding opportunities for meaningful exchange and sustained cooperation."

Distinguished Professor Lee Seok-keun, who will oversee the research, outlined the proposed approach.

"Based on this MOU, once the project is formally initiated through the appropriate procedures, we plan to examine Bucheon Arts Center's operations from multiple perspectives, including interviews with staff members, and conduct comprehensive research and analysis," Lee said.

"We will carefully incorporate insights from those working on the ground to produce accurate, substantive research findings that can be practically applied to improve the center's operations."

Park Eun-hye, CEO of Bucheon Arts Center, also welcomed the partnership.

"We hope this agreement will provide a valuable opportunity for both institutions to share their expertise and experience and grow together," Park said.

"We will actively cooperate to ensure that the research proceeds smoothly and meaningfully, and we look forward to achieving outcomes that benefit both organizations."

Under the agreement, the two institutions plan to collaborate across four principal areas:

  • Operational and performance assessment: Reviewing and analyzing Bucheon Arts Center's operations and management performance.

  • Operational improvement: Identifying opportunities to enhance organizational efficiency and institutional development.

  • Sustainable growth in the performing arts: Exploring long-term growth strategies through academic-industry collaboration.

  • Research sharing and staff development: Sharing research findings and supporting training and educational programs for employees.

Through the partnership, Bucheon Arts Center and Sogang University's Graduate School of Virtual Convergence aim to combine academic research with practical institutional experience and develop strategies that support the long-term growth of cultural and performing arts organizations.
